Fossil Creek Nursery: Family Owned, Plant Passionate, & Community Oriented

A family owned business with the finest plant selection and trusted expertise … that’s Fossil Creek Nursery in a nutshell. Jack and Christine Fetig, owners of Alpine Gardens, purchased Fossil Creek Nursery in 1990 to help supply their landscaping business with quality plants. They soon found other people who cared as much about horticulture as they did, and soon the business was growing and thriving under their management (pun intended).

The passionate staff is what differentiates Fossil Creek from other nurseries in the area. The employees at Fossil Creek truly love what they do and have one common goal: to teach others about their love for plants. When you buy a plant from the nursery, Brian or Doc might also tell you about its history, where it grows best, and how to take care of it. The staff are always happy to answer any questions about the care of a plant – they just want you to be successful growing it! Combined, they have decades worth of experience in horticulture in the northern Colorado area. Plants are very region-specific, so it takes years to master a location and learn about the plants that thrive there. The knowledge that the team at Fossil Creek has is not easy to come by.

To encourage visitors to the nursery and in an effort spread the plant love, Fossil Creek occasionally holds creative classes where attendees can design their own themed plants while enjoying snacks (or even wine). Most recently, the nursery held a Bonsai Class lead by ‘Greenhouse Guru Doc’! The class sold out – every seat was filled with locals who wanted to learn about the history of the bonsai plant, design their own to take home, and enjoy a glass of wine with their friends on a Thursday night. The class was such a wild success that the nursery quickly scheduled another. This one was themed ‘Miniature Gardens’ and was open to all ages, including children! Parents, kids, and adults alike gathered to plant mini trees, add figurines, position stepping stones, and more to create a little garden in a pot.

Over the years of working with Fossil Creek Nursery, we have had the pleasure of seeing them pour their heart and soul into their work. If looking for the finest plant selection and trusted expertise in northern Colorado, make a stop at the beautiful 15 acre plot off of S. College Ave. You won’t be disappointed with the plants or the people.
