When you’re discussing a new promotion with your team, where does the conversation start? We bet it’s with online marketing. That’s no surprise. News is telling us traditional media is dead; that social media campaigns and online ads will give you the best results. Digital advertising is great in that it is cost-effective and delivers results in real time. However, we’re going to give it to you straight: People are still watching TV, reading magazines and really aren’t online 24/7.
When it comes to building an effective marketing plan, Mantooth doesn’t rule anything out. We approach marketing plans with a holistic approach. Our tactics are dictated by your target audience, sales strategy and goals. We still often consider traditional media, like print, outdoor advertising, direct mail and radio. Like any good tradition, those methods are tried and true, and have served us well in the past. So, yes–consider digital advertising for your marketing plans–but rekindle your relationship with traditional media when it comes to planning smart. Here are a few ways to mix the old with the new for an effective campaign.
Use the Energy at Events: Events provide an exciting setting to promote products directly to consumers. Events like Mantooth’s Lagoon Concert Series not only provide such an environment, but a connection with the community. Bring in social media to conduct contests associated with the event. Event footage can be streamed live or repurposed for social media and YouTube.
Get Outside: Billboards and outdoor advertising can be effective investments. They’re ads that often reach people when they are not on their phones, but when they’re in the car, walking or waiting for the bus. Unlike a digital ad that can be blocked or closed, outdoor ads can’t be avoided. A billboard for a new retailer can direct consumers to a website for discounts. Make sure to always include an online call to action on out-of-home advertising.
Start the Conversation on Social Media: Mantooth does a lot of work with local nonprofits. Whether it’s domestic violence or affordable housing, we often craft an awareness campaign on social media using a hashtag promotion. The campaign is often used to promote a specific day or fundraising event. We extend that awareness to businesses in the marketplace by providing them with traditional items, like posters and flyers, that they can easily display at work, and share with employees.
